Drogba is staying at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea's main marksman, Didier Drogba, will continue to represent the defending champions in the upcoming English Premier League season, according to the club's chief executive Ron Gourlay.

With the new season of English Premier League just two weeks, the defending champion, Chelsea back in the spotlight.

At the inaugural Soccerex forum in Asia that opened in Singapore on Wednesday, the English Premier League trophy was one of the main attractions.

Ron Gourlay represented Chelsea at the event, having taken over as the club's chief executive late last year.

The 46-year-old Scotsman dismissed any suggestion that Ivorian striker Didier Drogba could be set to leave Stamford Bridge.

"Absolutely no doubt at all, absolutely no doubt. Didier will be a Chelsea player next year, Didier is under contract. And the thing about this time of the year is we always get, you know, for our players to be in the news is, you know, it's normal. But yeah, Didier Drogba will be a Chelsea player next year."

Chelsea's title-winning squad has been pruned - winger Joe Cole left to join Liverpool and midfielder Michael Ballack's contract was also not renewed.

Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti is totally satisfied with what remains, according to Gourlay, but the chief executive stopped short of saying there would be new players brought in before the transfer deadline.
